Have you ever had that moment where your TV remote just goes missing? It happens to everyone, and it’s frustrating.
But what’s even more frustrating is when you can’t find the power button on your TV. You’ll be sitting there, yelling at yourself for not being able to turn off or on the TV, and then suddenly you realize—you can’t even find the power button on your TV.
Well, we’ve got some good news for you. We’re going to help you find that button.
How to find the power button on a Samsung TV
Bottom middle side
When you’re looking for the power button on your Samsung TV, keep in mind that it’s sometimes located on the bottom of the television, and sometimes it’s located on the side.
Sometimes it’s a protruding button, and other times it may be directly centered underneath the TV.
The best way to find out where your TV’s power button is located is to check beneath your TV on either the slightly left or right side.
Samsung knows that most TVs are usually mounted up on the wall or in a high enough place in your living room.
The probability of your TV’s power button being at the very bottom it’s likely the highest.
Start from the bottom center and then move in any direction.
You should see a small hole with an indented circle around it—this is where you’ll find the power button to turn your TV on and off!
Bottom left side
If you own a newer Samsung TV, the power button will most likely be located on the right side of your device. However, if you have an older model, it may not be as easy to locate.
The good news is that there’s still hope! Sometimes the power button might be at the bottom left side of your television.
To find this button, you’ll need to start by placing your hand underneath your TV and gliding it slowly from left to right.
You should feel for any protruding buttons along the way; these are what you’re looking for!
If you can’t find anything after a minute of searching, try Reaching Your Hands deeper toward the backside of the TV (if applicable).
If you feel any kind of button sticking out, go ahead and press it. There’s no harm in doing so.
This may cause something to light up on your screen—and if not, it will at least tell you what the key does.
Bottom right side
If your TV is less than five years old, then you’re probably in luck.
The power button will likely be on the right side of the TV.
Start with your hand underneath the middle of the TV And glided towards the right side. Try to feel for any protrusions or buttons that might be sticking out.
If this is not where your power button is, don’t worry—it could just mean that your model is slightly older (or newer).
If you’re still having trouble, try and reach further back behind the panel to see if there is a button underneath.
Left side bezel
Some Samsung TV models have the power button located on the very left side bezel in front of you. These types of controls are from a really old generation of TVs, so it’s possible you might have one.
If it’s not in that location, look for any color lights however dim they may be. They’ll likely be on the bottom left end showing up within the bezels.
The power button might also be touch-based glass and so you might not even find protrusions.
Back left side
If you can’t see or feel any buttons at all on the left side bezel, then try reaching your hand behind the panel of the TV.
Putting the controls on the back of the TV has since been a more modern approach to designing TVs. Samsung has taken this approach in recent years and has made it a permanent design choice for aesthetics.
Reach your hand behind the left panel from the bottom and drag it upwards until you feel for any protrusions or buttons that may feel clicky.
If there are no protrusions or buttons present, then check again with different fingers in different areas until you find one that seems like it could be used as a button.
Once you’ve found this button, test it out by pressing down firmly on it and seeing if anything happens (you should hear some sort of sound).
Right side bezel
If you can’t find anything at all from the left side then chances are it is on the right side bezel.
Check to see if there are any buttons on the right side of the TV within the bezel.
Start from the bottom of the bezel and make your way upward. There’s a high probability that the button will actually be on the lower end of the TV rather than the top.
Again, these can be hidden due to the design of the buttons.
Some models of Samsung TVs are made with glass buttons that are more touch-based rather than having a mechanical click.
Fortunately, there should be a small dim light that is shined through the glass so you can see where they are located.
Back right side
If there’s nothing showing up on your Samsung TV’s right side bezel, then it’s most likely behind the TV on that same side!
This is probably one of the most common places for manufacturers to put a power switch since the majority of people in the world are usually right-handed.
Aside from this being a very common place for manufacturers to put a power button, I would argue that it’s also one of the easiest places to find them (as long as you know what you’re looking for).
Most TVs have their power buttons at the bottom middle of their front panel.
How to identify the power button on a Samsung TV
It’s not always easy to find the power button on a Samsung TV. It could be on the side, at the top, or even on the back—and if you’re like me, you’ll probably end up feeling your way into finding it and then clicking on it. But how do you know if it’s a power button or not?
Once you’ve found your hardware controls on the bottom, back, or side of your TV, it’s time to try to understand what buttons you might be feeling since it’s going to be difficult to actually see the buttons.
They are most likely behind the TV after all.
In many cases, if your buttons are located on the right or left side of your TV, the power button would probably be at the very top of the set.
Start your fingers from the bottom of the side of your TV and drag it upward until you no longer feel any buttons left.
Each button is usually no more than 10 cm apart ( most are around 5 cm apart) from each other. Usually, the power button would protrude most out of all other buttons!
The same thing applies to whether the buttons are at the bottom left or right of your TV.
And if all else fails, you can always just test each button one at a time and see what it does to the TV.
If you do click on the power button you’ll likely know because if your TV is on, then it will turn off, and if it is already off then it will turn on.
How to use the power button on a Samsung TV
The power button on your Samsung TV can be used to turn the TV on and off.
It is located on the front, bottom, left, or right side of your TV, so you can easily find it.
Once you’ve located the power button, press it in order to activate it.
If you do click on the power button you’ll likely know because if your TV is on, then it will turn off, and if it is already off then it will turn on.
If your TV isn’t responding to normal commands, one can try using a remote app. The remote app allows users to control their TVs from any location where there is an Internet connection.
How to troubleshoot power button issues on a Samsung TV
If your Samsung TV is having trouble turning on, the problem is probably a power button issue. Luckily, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue and get your TV working again.
First, make sure that the TV is properly plugged into an outlet. If it’s not, try plugging it into another outlet or using a different extension cord.
Check the circuit breaker. If there’s a problem with your circuit breaker (or if it’s tripped), you may need to try and switch it back on. if that doesn’t work then contact an electrician or replace it yourself.
Be very careful about this because messing around with a circuit breaker can put you in a lot of danger.
Try unplugging and plugging in the TV again. Some TVs have reset buttons on them that can be pressed while they’re unplugged, but others don’t have these buttons and will instead require both unplugging and plugging back in before they’ll turn on again.
While your TV is unplugged, press and hold the power button for at least 20 seconds. Some Samsung models use this approach to discharge and reset their TVs.
Then try and press the power button again and see if it will turn on.
If that doesn’t work, try contacting a qualified technician to take a look at it.
They’ll be able to determine whether there’s something wrong with your TV or if it just needs a power cycle (turning it back on after being turned off for some period of time).
Once plugged back in, press and hold the power button on the TV for 30 seconds.

What to do if your Samsung tv isn’t turning on
If your Samsung TV isn’t turning on, the most likely culprit is a problem with the power supply. Here are some things you can do to troubleshoot:
Turn off the TV completely and then remove it from standby.
Check the power cord and make sure it’s plugged into an outlet that works. If it’s plugged in but still won’t turn on, try swapping out the power cord for another one.
Make sure that the wall outlet isn’t damaged or loose. If so, plug something else into it—a lamp or another device—and see if it works.
Try pressing the power button for 30 seconds
Check if there is a power cord plugged into the wall and into the back of the TV.
Look at your remote control and see if any lights are lit up on it (this could mean there’s a battery issue). If all lights are off but nothing happens when you press buttons on the remote, try replacing its batteries before continuing the troubleshooting steps below.
If all else fails and none of these steps fix your issue, there may be something wrong with your TV itself (such as a broken part inside).
In this case, you’ll need to contact Samsung support directly so they can help determine what needs to be replaced and arrange for a replacement part if necessary
What does a flashing red light mean?
If you’re seeing a flashing red light on your Samsung TV, don’t worry. It’s not a sign that your TV is broken!
A flashing red light usually means that the TV is receiving power, but there may be an issue with the display.
If the red light is blinking, it could mean that there is an error with your TV.
If you see five flashes followed by a pause of two seconds and then another five flashes (this repeats several times), this indicates that your TV has failed to detect an HDMI input device or cable box connected to it.
This issue can be resolved by unplugging any HDMI devices connected to your TV and then plugging them back in again.
If this does not resolve the issue, please contact Samsung customer service for assistance.
If the red light is solid, it could mean that your TV is in standby mode.
To exit standby mode and turn on your TV again, press any button on your remote control or front panel control panel (except for the power button) and your TV will wake up again.
